It is also called insight meditation, this is the practice the Buddha discovered that led to his enlightenment. You don't have to become a Buddhist to do it, though.

The idea is to pay attention each moment to your senses, emotions, and thoughts, without resistence or judgment.

Nonjudgemental awareness of the present moment can help you relax and manage stress. Recent MRI research shows that mindfulness can change our brains so we can derail the overthinking: In a 2008 study, researchers at Justus Liebig University in Germany found that mindful meditation not only change the brain (making it denser in the areas that moderate fearful emotions), but also reduces stress, depression, and possible chronic pain - all major players in overall health as well as anxiety.

Mindfulness helps people stop worrying and changing in their breathing, which helps them to enjoy healthy life more. All you have to do is focus on your breath.
